Volunteering with us

We want you to have fun, be safe, learn with us, and make new friends.

Here we lay out our volunteering terms and conditions, as a basis for building solid relationships without misunderstanding

Our terms and conditions

What we ask of you:

  • Equality, diversity and inclusion are vital parts of our social justice message. We ask everyone volunteering with Field Families CIC to show respect and kindness to one another.

  • We have zero tolerance for sexual assault, defined as ‘any unwanted sexual act or activity’. Tammi Dallaston is the appropriate adult for reporting any incidents.

  • Volunteers must use the recycling points provided and take all of their personal belongings away at the end of the festival. Anyone failing to do this will not be invited back.

  • Please respect any site boundaries. We are often invited onto private land, and you may not enter private property in the vicinity of the site.

  • Children must be supervised by their responsible adult(s). If a minor is suspected of committing or planning to commit crime or anti-social behaviour, they and their parent/ guardian(s) may be evicted.

  • The site owners and Field Families CIC accept no responsibility for personal property; please take care of your own belongings.

  • Covid and other infectious diseases: if you have symptoms associated with covid or other easily transmissible infectious disease (eg measles, norovirus, flu) in the days before you are due to arrive on site, we ask you to seek medical advice and, if possible, to isolate until you test negative or symptoms have completely gone.

  • Volunteers may be photographed, filmed and recorded as participants. Photos, films and recordings of the event/ workshop/ work weekend and its participants may appear publicly and be distributed and published within the public domain. You have the right to ask Field Families CIC photographers not to photograph, film or record you; and the right to ask them to delete pictures, film or recordings they have taken of you. You may also contact field.families@gmail.com to ask us to remove photos, film or sound recordings that identify you from our files and online media, and we will do our best to ensure this happens.

  • Health and Safety: you might be working in the mud, rain, sun or wind. The terrains we work in are often off grid, with few creature comforts. We ask that you wear appropriate clothing, sturdy footwear, bring any medication you need, and let us know of any health conditions that may require extra consideration and management.

What you can expect from us:

  • We are grateful for the hard work you offer us in the run up to and during events. You might be asked to work more than you are used to, but you will never be asked to work more than 48 hours in any working week.

  • We will always aim to provide you with appropriate induction and training that will enable you to fulfil your role

  • We are happy to offer you a reference for any future paid/ voluntary roles.

  • We will provide insurance to cover you in your role.

  • There will always be a clear line of communication in case things go wrong. This will usually be your co-ordinator, then the lead coordinator (Tammi Dallaston). If this is inappropriate, please contact any of the directors.
